The first day of the Beach Sprint World Finals in Genoa concluded today, marking the second global event in just a few days following last week’s Coastal Rowing Endurance World Championship. Spectacular scenes unfolded on the waters of San Nazaro Beach, with a large crowd gathered along Corso Italia to witness the athletes’ performances in a discipline set to make its Olympic debut at Los Angeles 2028.
The Beach Sprint World Finals, part of the Genoa European Capital of Sport 2024 program, will come to a close tomorrow with the second day of finals, concluding a two-week period that has crowned the city as the world capital of coastal rowing.
Ahead of tomorrow’s closing day, Day 2 saw the first awards ceremony, enhanced by the presence of Jean-Christophe Rolland, President of World Rowing; Giuseppe Abbagnale, President of the Italian Rowing Federation; Marco Bucci, Mayor of Genoa; Alessandra Bianchi, Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Genoa; Marco Dodero, President of the Organizing Committee; and Anna Palmieri, President of the Medio Levante Municipality of Genoa.
