For several years Genoa, headquarters of World Rowing Coastal Championships & Beach Sprint Finals in September, has embarked on a path of redefining its brand, to position itself internationally as a smart, dynamic city projected towards the future but with solid roots of history, culture and tradition behind it, linked above all to the strong relationship with its sea, and other particularities of the territory such as the quality of life and the mildness of the climate.

Genoa is proposing for the right mix it can offer between modernity, sustainability and inclusiveness, for the ability to combine the varied, sometimes even contrasting aspects that characterize it, for its being an authentic, lively city on a “human scale”, where it is stimulating to work but it is also pleasant to live, in all seasons of the year.

Genoa places itself as a destination of excellence on the Italian and international tourist market as an Urban Destination, able to offer many different atmospheres: the historical, artistic and architectural heritage, as Genoa can boast one of the largest medieval historical centers in Europe and a UNESCO site, “The New Roads and the Palazzi dei Rolli system”; the picturesque landscape typical of the Ligurian Riviera can be enjoyed in the seaside villages of Boccadasse, Nervi and Pegli; the Aquarium boasts the largest exhibition in Europe of aquatic biodiversity; the large museum heritage offers the opportunity to visit up to 33 museums within 10km ranging from art, world cultures to natural sciences. Moreover, Genoa has many green park areas and ancient Villas to visit not far from the City Center, reachable by the sea, by battle or by train.

To discover all this beauty, it is possible to live the “Rolli Experience”, a unique and immersive experiential weekend which provides a rich offer of exclusive activities among the prestigious Palazzi dei Rolli, ranging from art, culture and good food. Since the Middle Ages and then since the time of Christopher Columbus, Genoa has been one of the most important maritime and port centers in Europe and continues to be the Italian capital of yachting. The sea is its most authentic dimension.

The values of the city are those of sea people, and are also founding values of the culture of sport: pride, strength, dedication, authenticity, teamwork, respect for nature. Genoa is therefore the ideal venue for sporting events. In June 2023, it was the first city in Italy to host the final stage of The Ocean Race, a legendary event, which together with the Olympics and America’s Cup represents the grand slam of sailing and which celebrates its 50th anniversary.

In 2024, a full calendar of sporting, competitive and amateur events is planned for athletes, young and old: at least 1,000 events in the metropolitan area of Genoa of which 50 international, 350 national, 50 Para Sports, 250 cultural events, among these the main important event will be the 2024 World Rowing Coastal Championship & Beach Sprint in the first half of September.
