From South Africa to Genoa with a focus on the Los Angeles Olympics: the World Rowing Coastal Championships are just the first step in Lunga Mcetywa‘s journey, who has arrived in Liguria to assess his level.

“We are moving step by step towards the Olympics”, he explains, “we are here to compete and see how far we are from the top”.

Last year, Lunga Mcetywa competed in the World Championship in Barletta, and in Genoa, he found the same atmosphere: “It’s very nice here, yesterday it rained, but it wasn’t cold, and we could wear shorts. I also really like the sea and the beach.”

He hasn’t had time to visit the rest of the city yet, but between races, “I’ll definitely take a walk, I’m curious to see it”.
