The World Rowing Coastal Championships & Beach Sprint Finals will take place in Genoa at San Nazaro Beach on Corso Italia from September 6th to 15th, as part of the Genoa 2024 European Capital of Sport initiative.
Two disciplines will be featured: endurance and beach sprint. The endurance race is a leading world club competition, while the beach sprint features one crew per nation in the first World Championships since it was included in the Olympic program, debuting in Los Angeles 2028.
“In the year of Genoa 2024 European Capital of Sport, we are ready to celebrate an event destined to remain in the sporting history of our city. Coastal Rowing and Beach Sprint, rowing disciplines with strong development, will make Genoa the stage for an absolute world championship for the first time,” said the City of Genoa’s Sport Councillor, Alessandra Bianchi. “It is a highly anticipated double event with the world’s spotlight on our city: from here, many athletes will begin their Olympic dream for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. In Genoa, athletes, staff, delegations, enthusiasts, and families will be able to experience truly special days marked by sport and the discovery of all the beauties the European Capital of Sport can offer.”
The venue will be San Nazaro Beach on Corso Italia. The event runs from September 6th to 15th, with endurance races the first weekend and Beach Sprint Finals the second weekend. Italy hosts this event for the second time in a row, following last year’s edition in Barletta, Apulia.
