Sustainability is one of the key themes of the World Rowing Coastal Championships & Beach Sprint Finals, global double event scheduled to take place in Genoa from September 6th to 15th. In this context, the participation of ‘Spazzapnea’, an Italian volunteer organization dedicated to environmental protection, stands out as they will lead a significant sustainability initiative on September 7th.

The volunteers from Spazzapnea will dive into the waters of San Nazaro Beach, the event’s venue, to collect marine litter, which will then be sorted and weighed to support “citizen science” projects.

The event will thus serve as an opportunity to combine sport with environmental protection. World Rowing together with ‘Spazzapnea’, which has been organizing underwater waste collection competitions for years, affirm their commitment to preserving marine ecosystems, while also raising public awareness on ecological issues.
